Atrial septal defect (ASD), displacement of the atrioventricular valves, and mitral regurgitation were revealed by means of echocardiography, and partial endocardial cushion defect was diagnosed. In order to treat this condition, the atrium was opened under hypothermic anesthesia. A cleft in the mitral valve was sutured, and an opening in the atrial septum was closed using an ASD patch and a continuous suture technique. The patient died due to heart failure five hours following surgery. As this disorder progresses very quickly, it is considered necessary to perform the operation as soon as possible following diagnosis and assessment of the patient as suitable for surgery. In surgical technique, it may be considered necessary to prevent obstruction of arterial blood flow due to placement of a catheter in cats.
