MSWIRs (municipal solid waste incineration residues) contain the various substances such as heavy metals, minerals and TOPs (trace organic pollutants). The behavior of dissolved organic matter (DOM) is strongly related to the removal efficiency of pollutants in each process of leachate treatment facilities. This study is to characterize the DOM in leachates discharged from the outlets of each process in the leachate treatment facilities of final disposal site containing MSWIRs using the fractionation method. Total three final disposal sites were chosen for this study. The leachate samples for the each site were collected from the inlet and outlet of each functional unit in the treatment process. The samples were fractionated into 4 fractions. Hydrophobic fractions (Hpo-A, N) were more dominant than hydrophilic fractions (Hpi). The weight-average molecular weight of almost DOM fractions decreased with passing the treatment processes. The concentration of TOPs decreased with decreasing the concentration of DOM fraction in each process of facilities.
