Abstract

English terraced houses were introduced into the new world through colonization and have been developed in America and Australia. The purpose of this study is to examine their distinctive elements on both sides of street and backyard keeping good urban dwelling environment As a result, it is confirmed that mews was disappeared and replaced by “back door” on the front in New York and enlarged and opened in Australia. It means that the form of the terraced houses has been transformed in each country in different way and does still work today due to its diversity.
