Abstract

The characteristic of Kon, Wajiro ”Nihon No Minka”(1922) is ”common” houses featured in it. In this research, we restored and revisited the sites where they have been remaining, so that we could analyze the factor and transformation of private houses for about 90 years. In conclusion, we could acquire some perceptions in the following. 1) The term of investigation performed by Kon was divided into some different parts. In addition, there were the methods of selecting houses. 2) The transformation of houses has been affected by the policy of national land reform. 3) There’re some common factors caused from situations in each houses. 4) The survival of houses is connected with situations whether owners have stayed or not.
