Sustainable energy consumption and supply in the residential sector

Abstract

Residential energy reduction is expected as one of effective measures against global warming in Japan. The situation of residential energy conception and the applicability of C02 reduction measures in dwellings are Presented in this paper. The residential energy consumption per household has gone to peak out after 1995 and it is seemed to start to decline. Various energy supply systems and efficient water heat pump water are being introduced gradually such as photovoltaic power systems, solar water heaters, fuel cells and heat pump water heaters. Not only technology in1provements but also incentive policies are important to accelerate their introduction.
