Abstract
The townsmen's living areas in the city of Edo were totally different from present Tokyo in spatial geometry and material. In the previous study, the summer thermal environment of the block (=Machiyashiki) in this residential area was studied from surface temperature, using numerical simulation. In this paper, summer thermal environment of several Machiyashiki, located next to the previous target site and contain vacant lands and gardens, was evaluated from Heat Island Potential, showing that vacant lands in the blocks have effect on reducing daytime heat island phenomena, and there was no tropical night in the target site.
