Abstract
Upon 42 calves experimentally infected and 63 calves naturally infected with the lungworm, Dictyocaulus viviparus, the effects of both oral and intramusscular administration with dl- and l-tetramisole were examinaed. The high anthelmintic activity of tetramisole was revealed on lungworms more than 14 days of age.
The efficacy of 12.5-15mg/kg of dl-tetramisole was equal to that of 7.5mg/kg of l-tetramisole. The efficacy did not differ between the two routes of administration. It included satisfactory body weight gain and alleviation of pneumonia.
