Abstract
A serological survey on hemagglutination antibody against Toxoplasma was carried out in 213 domestic cats from six prefectures in the Tohoku district in 1974. The rate of positive reaction was 69%, on the average, in a range of 53%(Aomori Prefecture) to 967%(Iwate). It was considerably higher than that reported in any other district in Japan.
No significant relationship was observed between the rate of positive reaction and the breed or sex of the cats examined. The rate was 49 and 85% in 1-and 5-years-old cats respectively. It was very high in cats which always ran a round a piggery or a slaughterhouse.
