Abstract
Ultrasonography (USG) was applied to 14 eyeballs of 7 dogs and 4 cats with eye diseases. In 9 of 14 cases without intraocular conditions visible from the outside, showed abnormal USG correlated with gross findings in two enucleated eyeballs. In three eyeballs ophthalmoscopically diagnosed retinal detachment was confirmed by USG. The USG of two eyeballs suggested orbital abscess and retrobulbar tumor, which were definitely diagnosed as abscess and rhabdomyosarcoma, respectively, by needle aspiration and operation. In a case with cataract on the right and partial retinal detachment on the left, USG revealed partial retinal detachment also on the right eye, which could not be observed by ophthalmoscopy.
