Abstract
Smooth muscle cells can produce the SCF in normal state for survival of mast cells, but it is still unknown whether smooth muscle cells can enhance SCF production respond to the pathological stimuli. The present study showed that smooth muscle cells in mast cell increased regions around the worm cyst of intestinal nematodes enhanced SCF gene expression significantly compared with in mast cell non-increased regions of same sample. SCF gene expression in mast cell non-increased regions in nematodes infection mice is almost same levels in non-infection control groups. These results indicate that Smooth muscle cells can enhance SCF gene expression locally, and may have the role for local immunological reaction as the growth factor producing cells.
