Abstract

This paper presents an example of simultaneous control of jet deflection and heat transfer characteristics using an active fluidic nozzle. This active fluidic nozzle is a replacement of the pure fluid element of a flip-flop jet nozzle, which has been studied for many years, with compact speakers that are micro-actuators. Mainly, simultaneous control of the deflection angle of the jet flow and the heat transfer characteristics of the deflected jet flow was discussed by utilizing the phase difference in the oscillation of the actuators of the opposing sub-slots. Specifically, the influence of the phase difference and oscillation frequency between the actuators of the sub-slots on the deflection angle of the jet was evaluated based on flow visualization results obtained using a two-dimensional particle image velocimetry method.
