Condensation shocks caused by nonequilibrium condensation of moist air in a supersonic nozzle have been visualized by schlieren method and static pressure distributions along the nozzle center line have been measured. As the result, the effects of the relative humidity of moist air and the configuration of the nozzle on the shape of the condensation shock have been clarified.
The flow field has been also calculated numerically by the method of characteristics. Based on the experimental and calculated results, the mechanism of the formation of the condensation shock has been discussed in detail.
