According to the observation of the flow in a carburetor around the butterfly valve, we find that the flow passing the upper side of the valve is more vigorous than that passing the lower side against our expectation.
To clarify the fact, we have prepared the simplified two-dimentional trans-parent channel, and have investigated the flow passing the oblique flat plate in the channel by some visual techniques and numerical calculation.
Time-dependent flow velocity has been measured by Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV), Spark-Tracing Method, and Hydrogen Bubble Method.
Each result has been compared, and has obtained a general agreement including the calculation result. The results also show that the velocity or quantity of the fluid flow in the upper side is much greater than that in the lower side.
