Perpendicular magnetic field dependence of a Josephson current through a Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb junction

Abstract

Josephson current through a Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb junction is modulated by the external magnetic field in the direction parallel to the plane of the junction. When two parallel magnetic fields Hx and Hy are applied to the Josephson junction, two Fraunhofer pattern is observed in two direction of Hx and Hy. In this study, we investigated the modulation characteristics of the Josephson current by applying two parallel magnetic fields Hx, Hy and the perpendicular magnetic field Hz. Josephson current was irreversibly modulated by the perpendicular magnetic field Hz.
