The spawning grounds of red sea bream (Pagrus major) in Hiuchi-nada located the central part of the Seto Inland Sea are estimated using the two-way particle tracking model (PTM) combined the forward-in-time PTM with the backward-in-time one. The backward-in-time PTM results show that the spawning grounds are only in Hiuchi-nada and the straits bounded with the sea. The results of the forward-in-time PTM which particles run off from the spawning grounds estimated using backward-in-time PTM explain that the observed eggs of red sea bream in Hiuchi-nada are separated at the center of the area into two origins. Specifically, main spawning grounds of red sea bream around Hiuchi-nada are western area of Hiuchi-nada such as Kurushima strait and Geiyo islands, and eastern area around Bisan-seto.
