The particle number concentration and size of the biological particle Pseudomonas diminuta in water were measured by means of an aerosolizing method. There was no particle damage due to nebulization and the drying process caused no shrinkage. The lowest level of measurable concentration by this method is about 103cm-3. Results show that the geometrical mean diameter of the biological particle is 0.43μm. However, when using this method the nonvalatile solute concentration in a suspension and the contamination level during the operation must be kept at a low level. According to this study, biological particles can be measured rapidly and easily by this method.
