We conducted an experimental study regarding the shape of ablative areas obtained in bovine livers using the VIVARF system (STARmed, Korea) with five protocols.
All protocols started ablation at 40 W (2 cm active tip) or 60 W (3 cm), and the output was increased at a rate of 10 W/min. The closest approximation of a spherical shape was obtained in "General mode" by decreasing the output by 0.1 A each time roll-off occurred, continuing ablation for 6 min (2 cm) and 12 min ablation (3 cm).
