LPS and Protein A sensitized lymphocytes (as a primary antigen) were inoculated in periodontal tissue of the lower molar teeth of rats and the variation of T and B cells distribution with time in the left and right submaxillary lymph nodes and spleen was examined by using Rosette technique. In addition, when LPS and Protein A were inoculated in the same tissue on the 3rd and 7th days after the primary antigen inoculation as a secondary antigen, the variation in the number of T and B cells was also investigated. The results obtained were as follows : 1) The number of T cells in control group was 13.4 to 19.4% in the submaxillary lymph nodes and 15.8 to 17.5% in the spleen. On the other hand, that of B cells was 13.2 to 17.0% in the submaxillary lymph nodes and 18.5 to 22.5% in the spleen. 2) When LPS and Protein A were inoculated, the number of T and B cells in the submaxillary lymph nodes increased gradually compared with that of control group. 3) The ratio of B cells in the submaxillary lymph nodes increased slightly more than that of T cells, on the 7th day after inoculation of secondary antigen (LPS).
