After creating experimental cancer in the tongues of domestic rabbits by transplantation of VX_2 carcinoma, daily changes in proliferation of the VX_2 carcinoma and in the nutrient artery were examined. The results were as follows : 1. The transplanted VX_2 carcinoma proliferated invasively by the day along the direction of muscle fibers toward the dorsal side, the ventral, and the right and left lateral side of the tongue. 2. Twenty days after transplantation, the VX_2 carcinoma, after reaching the dorsal membrane, proliferated expandingly toward the apex and the root of the tongue. 3. Formation of vessels considered essential for proliferation of VX_2 carcinoma was seen in the 5th-day cases. 4. Arterioles considered to be neogenetic vessels appeared in the tumor parenchyma in the 10th-day cases. 5. Hyperplasia of argentophil fibers was seen in the tips of tumor growth and in the periphery of injury vessels. 6. With proliferation and expansion of VX_2 carcinoma, the main, external and internal lingual arteries surrounded and nourished the tumor.
