The sliding bone graft is a treatment method for restoration of the mandibular bony defects. However, this mehtod has been used for bone losses of a few centimeters. Case report-S. N., a 47-year-old man, was referred to our clinic with large bonedefect of the anterior part of the mandible (from right canine to left second premolar). Otherwise, he had suffered from diabetes mellitus and received the treatment for multiple injuries. Consequently, the sliding bone graft was performed on the patient to avoid and/or reduce, as much as posible, the surgical stress in general condition. The adequate fixation and prolonged stabilization with a lingual plate prevented the transformation of the mandible after surgery. The x-ray examination showed a well restored of the mandible. In order to reconstruct the frontal part of the mandible, it is required that the materials for grafting have strong quality and are made similar to the anatomical form. The mandibular cortical bone could not be shaped to the arched form satisfactorily, but had enough strength. The possibility of applying this procedure of sliding bone graft to cases of comparatively large bony defect is presented.
