Abstract

This study examines the relations between preschool children's sociometric status and their objective attribution to their own intention. Participants were 80 3-,4-,and 5-year old kindergarteners. The intention was constructed by false belief, belief, desire, and intention. The researches were con-ducted by methods of interview and natural observation to estirnate to scores, and the following significant results were obtained.Girls' belief scores were significantly higher than boys' scores in sociometric status M-group. Moreover,5-year-old children's false belief scores were higher than 3-and 4-year-old children's scores in sociometric status M-group. In addition,3-year-old children's scores were higher than 4-year-old children'scores in the M-group. However, the results of the sociometric status by the interview method were different from those by the natural observation method. The above results suggest that the children's playing conditions may have an influence on sociometric status or their attribution to their own intention.
