A numerical simulation was made to calculate concentrations of solids, velocity profiles of gas and fluid and pressure drop. The simulation was based on the numerical calculation developed by Patankar and Spalding for solving the boundary layer equation and the virtual wall model which the present authors proposed to enable spherical particles to continue to bounce on the wall under the influence of gravity. Further, an experimental transport line of particles was made and motions of particles and fluid were measured. Empirical parameters in the simulation model were determined to obtain a good agreement between calculations and measurements. However, investigations of the effects of sizes of particles and channel on the calculation remain to be done.
