Experiments have been performed to determine the burning velocity and its pressure-dependence near the flammability limits of methane-air mixtures, using a zero-gravity method achieved in a freely falling chamber. The values of burning velocities obtained are evaluated from the density ratio, considering the flame thickness, where the temperature profile is linear from the burnt to unburnt side and the burnt gas takes the adiabatic flame temperature. They were compared with those determined by other workers.
