In the present work, an experimental study of the freezing heat transfer from a concave wall of a return bend which has a rectangular cross section is performed. The experiments are carried out with three duct heights of 97, 60 and 45 mm and curvature-radii of 136, 87 and 68 mm under the condition that the concave wall is cooled at a uniform temperature kept less than the freezing temperature of water, while the convex wall is insulated. From the present experiment, it is found that the mean heat transfer increases with increasing duct height and decreasing radius of curvature of the return bend.
