The vibration phenomena of circular cylinders subjected to a cross flow which is not uniform but jetted from a narrow gap are made clear experimentally in this paper. The fundamental test apparatus was manufactured for investigating the flow-induced vibration of circular cylinders, and the vibrational behaviours of circular cylinders were measured by means of taking the number of cylinders, the relative position of the cross flow jetted from a narrow gap, and fluid density as the test parameters. As a result, it is found that the vortex shedding vibration phenomena and the fluid elastic vibration one are recognized in circular cylinders subjected to the cross flow jetted from a narrow gap, as well as in the case of the uniform flow, and that particular vibrational phenomena which are not observed in the uniform flow exist in the gap flow.
