A faunal servey of tabanid flies was made in the southern part of the Oshima Peninsula, Hokkaido, in the summer of 1975 and 1983. In total 13 species of 5 genera were collected by CO2-baited traps. Chry sops suavis, Hirosia sapporoensis and Tabanus chrysurus were dominant in the mountain area, but T. nipponicus was more abundant in the pasture. Hi. iyoensi, of which massive occurrence had been recorded in the past, was rather scarce in the present survey.
