Abstract
The cases of 1510 lumbar vertebral columns were investigated to know the interrelation between the grades of spur (osteophyte) formation and the age of patients by using a new method. Each spur was classified in five categories according to their severities, and given grading number of one to five. All the numbers were then summed up individually. By this method, difference by sex, difference between patients with and without radiological findings, and difference according their localisation were evaluated.
