National Film Center,the National Museum of Modern Art,Tokyo (NFC) has established a website with the National Institute of Informatics (NII) as part of the National Research Project for the long-term preservation and access to digital motion pictures. The “Japanese Animated Film Classics” website was launched to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Japanese animation,which is believed to have first been publicly shown in 1917. NFC has featured 64 works released between 1917 and 1941 and uploaded them in this website. This website has got 1 million page views six months after the opening of this site and achieved outstanding results of getting the visitor/educator’s support in and out of Japan.
