The chelating formation ability of monomeric ligand having two iminodiacetic acid groups in phenolic nuclei and its chelating resin has been studied. The monomer and polymer have remarkable affinities for some heavy metals, especially for iron (III). This chelating resin was applicable to the removal of iron (III) from ferrichrysin-iron (III) complex in sake, the separation of dilute iron (III) from zinc (II), and the separation of dilute copper (II) from nickel (II).
