Abstract
The normal vibration calculations were made, by means of the GF matrix method, for the water molecules sorbed into hydrophobic polymers. By adjusting the values of values of four force constants of the isolated water molecule to adequate values, the calculated vibration frequencies of the sorbed water molecules were in good agreement with the observed ones. Based on the adjusted values of force constants, the relation bewteen the νs (OH) and νa (OH) stretching frequencies of water molecules sorbed into these polymers was discussed.
