The Tokyo Voice Center, established in 2001, is Japan’s first medical facility to specialize in voice medicine. It is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of laryngeal diseases and voice disorders as well as related clinical and research activities. Clinically, the Tokyo Voice Center focuses on treating professionals who rely on their voices, such as voice actors, opera singers, and Raiba- (Japanese term for “Live Streamers”)―and has published research findings tailored to the specific demands of each profession. In the field of research, the Tokyo Voice Center focuses on microlaryngeal surgery and intracordal trafermin injections. For the latter, preparations are underway for the implementation of a specified clinical trial and an investigator-initiated clinical trial. It is hoped that this review will inspire future voice specialists to engage in both clinical practice and research in voice medicine, thereby contributing to expansion of the field of laryngological science.
