The writers have been lucky enough to visit Yaeyama Islands, Southern Loochoos during the summer of 1960 and 1961. In the present paper, authors report 1. ) new knowledges they obtained on the food plants and early stages of some butterflies 2.) 62 species they collected with detailed data and some references to the behaviors of adult butterflies. Food plants (unconfirmed in case of Eurema blanda arsakia FRUHSTORFER) are written in scientific names. In 1.), descriptions on the following species may be worthy of attention: Catopsilia pomona FABRICIUS, Catopsilia crocale CRAMER, Kallima inachus eucerca FRUHSTORFER, Tacoraea selenophora ishiana FRUHSTORFER, Nacaduba nora kanoi OMOTO, Megisba malaya iwasakii MATSUMURA, Tagiades trebellius mortius PLOTZ, Telicota colon stinga EVANS. In 2.), it may be of interest that Papilio protenor ab. ishigakianus HIRAYAMA, Papilio memnon pryeri ROTHSCHILD, Lethe europa pavida FRUHSTORFER, Doleschallia bisaltide CRAMER were collected. A detailed paper on Pithecops sp. is expected to be presented by Dr. T. SHIROZU in the near future.
