The EI mass spectral fragmentation of a series of perfluoro-oxa-alkylated aromatic compounds, [ArCFCF3{OCF2CF(CF3)}nOC3F7, n=0, 1, 2, Ar=phenyl, 2-furyl, 2-thienyl, 2-pyrrolyl] was investigated in comparison with those of the corresponding non-fluorinated one (PhCHCH3OC3H7) and fluoroalkylated benzenes [Ph(CF2)nCF3, n=2, 6]. These fragmentation processes were discussed on the basis of accurate mass measurements and B/E constant linked scannings. In perfluoro-oxa-alkylated aromatic compounds, it was clarified that these compounds show the characteristic fragmentation path ways which result from the α-fission of parent ion and the dissociation of oxygen-carbon bond in perfluoro-oxa-alkyl groups. In fluoroalkylated benzenes, it was indicated that these benzene derivatives show the main fragmentation path ways by the loss of fluoroalkyl groups to afford difluorobenzyl ion.
