The International Quantitative Linguistics Conference 2023 (QUALICO 2023) was held at the University of Lausanne from June 28 to 30, 2023. It was organized by the Department of Language and Information Sciences, the Centre for Linguistics, and the Science of Language in the Faculty of Arts of University of Lausanne, and supported by The International Quantitative Linguistics Association (IQLA). The conference was held in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Two keynote lecturers were invited, and 50 papers for talks and 18 papers for a poster session were presented. Seventy-seven participants from 19 countries and regions participated, namely, EU countries such as Germany, Spain, Italy, and Czech Republic, and Russia, Canada, the U.S.A., China, Hong Kong, and Japan. Of the 68 papers, six papers by Japanese researchers or by an international team including Japanese researchers were presented. Most of the papers focused on classical or fundamental topics such as quantitative indices, valency theory, linguistics laws such as the Zipf-Mandelbrot law and Menzerath-Altmann’s law, stylometry, including authorship attribution, sign language, and social media papers. Conference proceedings of selected papers will be published as a book. The IQLA Council Business Meeting was held, and new board members were selected. The next conference has been planned for Hong Kong in 2025. A call for papers for the next conference will be announced on the IQLA website.
