Cleaning of Membrane Separation Plants for Food Processing

Abstract
When food and beverage comprised of multi-component is processed with a membrane separation plant, fouling isformed extremely in short course. Therefore, a frequent washing is needed. There are in general four interrelatedfactors which affect the overall cleaning process. They are chemical concentrations, temperature, time and mechani-cal force. When it comes to cleaning of the membrane separation plant, additionally four factors have to be consid-ered, such as fouling, membrane material, membrane module and water to be used for flushing.
