Abstract
Among the inorganic membranes, silica membranes show good hydrogen separation property, and the membrane can be applied to many reaction systems the generated hydrogen such as dehydrogenation reaction. Generally, silica membranes are prepared by Sol–gel and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) method. The membrane has a relatively wide pore distribution owing to amorphous structure, however the pore size can be controlled by appropriately selecting silica precursor. Here, research and development trends of silica membrane reactors focused on water gas shift reaction and dehydrogenation are introduced.
