PET imaging visualizes biological functions using radiolabeled compounds, with [18F]FDG widely used for cancer diagnosis. In BNCT, [18F]FBPA is valuable because it reflects the biodistribution of the boron drug BPA, allowing prediction of treatment effectiveness through tumor uptake. This has been essential for the clinical adoption of BPA–BNCT. PET also supports drug–development studies by enabling noninvasive tracking of pharmacokinetics.
