The Role of "Cultural History of Mathematics" in Mathematics Education

Abstract

"Cultural history of m ath e matics means the study about the important play of mathematics in the history of human cultures. Following my proposition, the first international conference on"cultural history of mathematics" was held in China in 1991. Therefore in the following, I will explain the development of the conference since then. On the other ;hand, it is to be desired that some parts of"cultural history of mathematics":are included in school mathematics. So I will discuss about the matter through my experiences.
