"Cultural history of m ath e matics means the study about the important play of mathematics in the history of human cultures.
Following my proposition, the first international conference on"cultural history of mathematics" was held in China in 1991. Therefore in the following, I will explain the development of the conference since then. On the other ;hand, it is to be desired that some parts of"cultural history of mathematics":are included in school mathematics. So I will discuss about the matter through my experiences.
We propose to reconsider the learning sequence of secondary mathematics in order to change the mathematics discipline connecting to real world and in which students go on creating new notion through activities.
In this paper Id escribe the progress of mathematics education from the'80s to '90s of the 20thcentury. This work is viewed from the following points.
(1) To investigate the cause of scholastic decadence in those days by ascending to the preceding period ('60s -'70s).
(2) To show that mathematics education along the international cooperation was developed. And to reveal that now mathematics education has some study fields, such as Cultural History of Mathematics, Informatics and Distance Learning.
(3) To investigate the effectiveness of educational policy from the standpoints of mathematics education.
The purpose of this study is to discuss the multiplex structure of the goal on the mathematics education by one of the method of studying the exponential function. In this study, a guitar was used.
In conclusion. we have known the students could discover easily to the mathematical property which is contained in the guitar.
In this paper we describe the development of the creativity power and the creativity attitude in mathematics learning for junior high school students grade 1 to grade 3. We examined the correlation coefficient and the causal relation among the creativity test score and the creativity attitude scale score for junior high school
students grade 1-3 and compare the result of the three grade. For the creativitypower, we used a creativity test of "The figure and Congruence"and used the test score. For creativity attitude measurement, we used Creativity Attitude Scale (CAS) that was developed by N.Saito .
One of the main purposes to introduce "the Classes of the Synthetic Studies" in elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools is to bring up"the Power of Living" of children. Actually, there are a lot of the teaching materials, which are formed with welfare, the international understanding, environment or health as the central figure. As a result. many classes which pay attention to these fields are carried out in "the Classes of the Synt he tic Studies" .On the other hand, there are few teaching materials for "the Classes of the Synthetic Studies" ,which are conscious of a field of mathematics. Therefore, in the Teacher-training Course, School of Engineering, Kinki University,we not only develop the teaching materials for "the Classes of the Synthetic Studies" , which take advantage of mathematics but also teach the classes with these teaching materials.
Moreover, MEXT (the Ministry of Education, Culture. Sports, Science and Technology) has been carrying out" Project of Science Partnership Program (SPP)" ,which forms ap art of "Plan to make children like modern technology and science very much" . In this year. School of Engineering, Kinki University participated in the planning of"Project of SPP: Course Cooperated in Education" centering on the Teaching-training Course of Mathematics.
In this paper. we will mainly institute the method of development of the teaching materials for mathematics from a point of view of engineering and some problems in participating in the planning of "Project of SPP" .
For space cognition. the power of "transformation between two dimensions and three dimensions about 'figure in three-dimensional space&apos+" is necessary. We define this power as "Power of dimension transformation for space cognition". We insist that learning of the series of "Seeing and drawing the figure of three dimensional space using the concept of projection" raises"Power of dimension transformation for space cognition". In this paper, we proposed the curriculum of the use of "parallel projection". and tried the teaching practice to the first grader of the junior high school. And the effect on student's "Power of dimension transformation for space cognition" was considered. The results of change student's "Power of dimension transformation for space cognition.. are as follows.
1. Students can find the character of Affine Geometry by learning "Seeing and drawing the figure by using parallel projection."
2. "Understanding of a law of a save" of a student transfigures from. "Affine Transformation about quadrangle" to Affine Transformation about triangle".
In this study, we tried to teach of the literal expressions and function for junior high school using "Excel"effectively. Previous studies have already shown that it is difficult for students to get the concept of algebraic letters. And the learning of function is mainly to take up unrealistic integral function, and to use table, expression and graph by turns. A lot of studies have been made on these problems. For example, the learning of algebraic letters placed emphasis on educational meaning of algebraic letters, and it was effective to do the various educational practices using program calculator from the I98 0s downward.
In the environment which surrounds a child changes completely, I verified that it is possible to develop into previous studies by educational practices using "Excel", and how students'cognition changed.
As a result of the educational practice, I recognized that it was feasible to grow the cognition of function using "Excel".
