The Detinova method (The ovarian tracheoles reading method) and Polovodova method (The folliculars dilatation observation method) were compared for the parity of field-collected Aedes albopictus. Using the Polovodova method, 517 individuals were determined to be nulliparous and 203 to be parous. On the other hand, using the Detinova method, 418 individuals were determined to be nulliparous and 154 to be parous. No significant difference was observed between the two rates (p=0.611). However, the number of unreadable cases was higher with the Detinova method than with the Polovodova method. To determine whether the mosquito was parous or not, it is best to observe a single ovary using the Polovodova method and use the Detinova method when it is not possible. Fluctuation of the parous rate of Aedes albopictus was investigated from 2021 to 2024. The annual average parous rates of individuals collected from 2021 to 2024 were 43.8%, 32.3%, 28.4% and 32.6% respectively. The parous and nulliparous density was calculated from numbers of individuals collected (per 40 min) and the parity rate. Population fluctuations of Aedes albopictus were summarized in terms of changes of parous and nulliparous density from 2021 to 2024 in Kobe City.
