In recent years a compact urban development has begun to take place in Japan. Unlike Western countries, which began for the purpose of responding to environmental issues, the feature was intended to strongly regulate the suburbs developed for the revitalization of the city center. However, the city center revitalization in addition to that you have not produced the expected effect, the need for support for community development and global warming problem that corresponds to the population decline, low–carbon urban development efforts began.

There are advanced cases of Toyama City and Aomori City, but in order to compact city policy initiatives is carried out in more cities in Japan, such as a change in lifestyle of the residents is also required. This is intended to be consistent with the spirit of the FUTURE EARTH, it is important as future tasks.
