"Yamataka-Boshi" is one of the short stories in "the Ceremony of Entering the City of Ryojun," in which Uchida Hyakken wrote with a fear about the mystery of a human mind. Sohei, having heard a story about Akutagawa who feared the derby hat that Uchida Hyakken wore, suggested Hyakken to write a novel with the theme that both Hyakken and Akutagawa thought the other person to be a mad man and were afraid of each other. lt was two and half years later when Hyakken finally completed the short story solidifying this suggestion of Sohei's. He spent these two and half years for condensing two methods together: the one in which he described the mystery in the real world and the other in which he described the relationships between one's ego and the other's.
