After having finished Gubijinso, the period from the latter part of the fortieth to the forty-first year of Meiji Era (1905-1906), was very important for Soseki since it was the time when he attained the establishment of his own method of writing. It should be pointed out that Soseki was under the influence of William James and the fact is one of the important keys to the analysis of the formation process of his writing method. By comparing the descriptive parts of the two works, I made an attempt of proving that Soseki applied his psychological concept to his work the Miner. It is the concept of "the resting places and the transitive part" in "the stream of consciousness" written in The Principales of Psychology(1850) by James.
