In Ryunosuke's works written in the ninth year of Taisho Era (1920), when his eldest son Hiroshi was born, the appearance of two contradictory sorts of energy side by side recognized. One is the energy to go farther to any extentand the other is to stay for ever.By analyzing Akiyama-zu I made a consideration on the fall of Akutagawa's "arms of intelligence", And also I attempted to present a new way of understanding the theme of his work "Akiyama-zu", in terms of what the writer intended to express in the novel.
