Morishima Churyo was a man of letters who wrote energetically in between the three languages Japanese, Chinese and Western languages. Though his name is well known, his achievements have passed out of history and even the dates of his birth and death have been mistakenly conveyed. In this reseach I made an attempt to present the year of his death and to describe the way hespent the latter part of his life. Fortunately I happened to find the two of his favorite books. "Sento Shinwa" and "Keisei Tsugen" with copious notes which explain his later years. And the compilation of the revised "Zokugokai" - A Colloquial Chinese Dictionary - should be remarked as the very achievement that he devoted his last years to.
