A case of kerion celsi in a female infant was initiated about 20 days after her birth. Trichophyton rubrum was cultured from the involved hairs of the patient. In the literature the most common causative organisms of kerion celsi had been formerly T. ferrugineum and T. mentagrophytes, but recently Microsporum canis, M. gypseum and T. rubrum have become major pathogens of the disease.
