Abstract
Adenine arabinoside (vidarabine, Ara-A) was effective for treatment of a 71 year old man and a 21 year old woman with zoster generalisatus. This drug was also effective for treatment of a 41 year old woman zoster who was on prednisolone. This drug reduced the pain and inflammation, shortened the course and prevented new eruptions. The only adverse effect noted by either the patients or clinically was slight nausea and vomiting in one woman.
