Acquired total lipodystrophy was diagnosed in a 54-year-old woman. She had a generalized loss of subcutaneous fat tissue which began at the same time as non-insulin-dependent-diabetes mellitus and hyper-lipoproteinemia. Microscopic findings of the subcutaneous fat tissue disclosed atrophy of all the adipose cells.
