Spinal cord stimulation delivers low-voltage electrical stimulation to the spinal cord to inhibit or block the sensation of pain, and it has proven to be useful for pain induced by spinal disorders.
We report 10 cases of chronic neuropathic pain treated with spinal cord stimulation. The patients consisted of eight males and two females with a mean age of 58 years (range: 37 to 81 years). We assessed the degree of pain with use of a visual analog scale. Pain was relieved in eight cases.
We concluded that spinal cord stimulation is useful for patients without effective treatment such as surgery, drug therapy, physical therapy, etc.
