A group of 36 patients (7 males and 29 females) with femoral neck fracture, who were treated by Austin-Moore's prosthesis during 1981-1986, were studied. These cases were 52 to 89 years old (means, 72.4 years), and followed for 1.5 to 5.9 years (mean, 3.1 years). Postoperative OA hip score (J. O. A.) was 83.4 points on an average. End results were decided by age, period from injury to operation, osteoporosis, laterality of the length of femoral necks and central migration. Austin-Moore's prosthesis seems to be valuable in the treatment of the femoral neck fracture.
